Sculpted by Erick Sosa and released in 2014 with a very large edition size of 4000 pieces, the Hulk statue by Kotobukyia is no doubt a fine collectible, characterized by an excellent sculpt and a dynamic, captivating pose. The green Goliath exhibits a very aggressive look, with the bust rotated, the massive right arm bent forward and the left stretched back to counterbalance the weight, and the legs positioned in a hardened advancing motion. The physique is really impressive and well sculpted: any muscle is oversized, although proportioned into a monstrous and spectacular balance! Note the bumped biceps and triceps on both arms, the rounded contours of pectorals and dorsal muscles, the incredible calfs and swollen veins just sketched on arms, hands and chest, the huge muscles on back with a sunked backbone. Also the purple jeans are fine, rich in folds and torn at knees level, with the scraps well fitting the legs. The face shows a furious expression, with the furrowed forehead and gnashed teeth, and a black, well-sculpted mussed hair. Unfortunately, in my humble opinion, the evident weak-point of the piece is the coloring. The green tonality used for the figure is fine and rather faithful to the Comics' character; nevertheless, the paint is too flat and uniform, with no shades to suitably point out the muscle contours, as usual in a 1:6 scale statue. The outstanding sculpt of Erick Sosa partially takes care of the lack of some appropriate hues, but I believe that this piece would have deserved much more attention and, if painted appropriately, would have been a top-quality representation of the hero! Anyway, the piece has a good charm and a fine, overall visual impact. The availability of this statue on market is good and the prices are really reasonable; in other words, it represents a good opportunity to enrich your Marvel collection with a fine piece.
